Building the basis for introducing sustainable governance practices in waste management and sustainable mining

In 2024 a pilot project was implemented between “ISSD” Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Development of Communities” (Armenia), Educational Center of LaTranca School District N.° 13 (Panama), Youth Education and Leadership Foundation (Suriname). The project had the following activities:

Formation of environmental consciousness of the beneficiary groups in Chiriquí (Panama), Baghramyan & Sevan consolidated
communities, Yerevan (Armenia) and Administrative jurisdiction of Tapanahony (Suriname)

Create a set of case studies and know-hows on proper waste management and environmental protection based on the
expertise of Humphrey Alumni

Establish an online network of environmental enthusiast from 3 countries (with possible extension to other countries)

Establish the Green Brigade, a group of students to promote the application of good practices learned during the training among students and community members.
